Because firearm has potential to kill people, voting has no chance of killing people. The risk is higher, therefore the standard of care must be higher.
What I don't understand is why would the other side oppose to firearm trainings anyway? Don't you want to shoot faster, more accurate, and more effective?

I'm not opposed to firearms training. I've taken plenty of it. Multiple courses a year for many years. It just shouldn't be mandatory to allow someone to exercise a basic constitutional right.
if owning firearm is so important to you, then you should spend time to study and pass the damn test. HSC is a f-cking joke. Losers that don't know how to shoot should learn how to shoot very well before owning one.
The Constitution clearly allows limitation on gun ownership. Such limitations have been ruled repeated valid on many cases.

Actions have consequences. As a parent, that is probably a concept he should be teaching his child. Unfortunately he seems to think that he can just say "Sorry" and that will fix it all. Well, that's not the way it works in the real world. See, most of us know, without having to be told, that if we earn ourselves a criminal record, it will be harder to get work. That's why most people follow the law.
