If it works they lose weight. If it fails they die. Either way they are better off.

I did that when I was about 20. Went from 260 to 170 in about five months.

Funny, I did that when I was 16. 250 to 160 in about 6 months. Lost every ounce of muscle I had though.

BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TO STOP EATING. THEY WILL NEVER STOP EATING.

Is it possible to keep some muscle if you exercise and go on an all-protein, severely calorie restricted diet?

I watched a guy who looked like slim down to a pretty good looking guy over a year's time.
He walked to the Irving Brown Line every day. I think he was walking about 4 miles each way. Obviously I don't know what else he was doing, diet or exercise-wise.
I always wanted to pull my car over and tell him how much I admired what he had done, but those things always have a way of backfiring on me, so I didn't.

I would look badass if I could lose my beer gut.
Seriously... I have huge shoulders, huge muscular arms, huge muscular legs, and narrow hips. But all of my body fat goes straight to the gut, which ruins everything.

No, I fiured he might be weirded out that I had been observing him.
I noticed him in the first place (when he was still fat) because he would walk and read a book at the same time. Not exactly the smartest thing to do on one of Chicago's busiest streets, but he was probably afraid people were pointing and laughing at the walking fat man, or something.
As he slimmed down he lost the book and picked up an iPod.

drink sugar water. and be prepared. at about 2 weeks, your body begins to digest itself.
fasting is healthy actually. just not if you yo-yo diet. once a year or so is fine

starvation very unhealthy
a high protein diet of 1800kcal/daily is about the ideal diet
pussh it up to 2200 kcal if you exercise

Possible, but not likely - the problem is that muscle is much easier for your body to breakdown than fat, so it tends to get burnt first.

It's very bad for your organs and bones too.

you go into an acidic state that leaches calcium from the bones
best is a high protein diet. just remember it may take years for you to lose the weight

It's possible to build muscle while you lose fat doing that.
And think of the money they could save from their reduced food bill.

when you don't eat, your body goes into self preserving starvation mode, and burns up far less calories than when you eat something.
the best thing is to burn a few less calories per day than your basal metabolic rate (the amount of calories your body naturally burns just resting, about 1200 for a normal weight person)
any calories burned beyond that go towards losing the 1 pound per 3500 calories burned

They would get really hungry and start eatting little kids near their house. Do you want to be responsible for that
